Job Promotion Letter

A job promotion letter sample is presented below. It is written to let an employee know that he is promoted to a higher position. This letter is a very positive letter and it doesn’t have to be a long letter just as long as the main thought is clear and instructions are given.

Middle Paragraphs

The next section of your cover letter should describe what you have to offer the company. Make strong connections between your abilities and the requirements listed in the job posting. Mention specifically how your skills and experience match the job. Expand on the information in your resume, don't just repeat it. Try to support each statement you make with a piece of evidence. Use several shorter paragraphs or bullets rather than one large block of text.

Example:

Since then I have held positions in the both the Human Resources and Marketing departments. During my tenure I have developed exceptional writing and editing skills, and have designed and implemented communications strategies on a departmental level.

I have a demonstrated ability to work collegially with leaders across business units and lines of business. In addition, I have been responsible for benefits communications, employee relations, as well as liaisoning with the company's clients and vendors.

These are just a few examples of my accomplishments. I hope that you will find that this brief view, in combination with the attached resume, describe a dedicated employee of ABCD with the experience and skills to meet or exceed the requirements of the position of Assistant Communications Manager.

I appreciate your consideration and look forward to discussing this opportunity for promotion with you at your convenience.

Tips & Warning

Tips:

You won't need to include a resume with the letter since you're not formally applying for a position. If human resources schedules an interview for a new job, however, you'll need to put together a new cover letter and an updated resume.

Warning:

Although you're trying to convince your boss to give you a promotion, don't make threats in the letter about leaving the company or mention that you have a better job offer unless you're prepared to follow through.
